Small Shell Mosaic Table Lamp

A small, warm pool of light, with a surface you want to touch. And it is small: the shell dome is 15.5 cm / 6.1 in across and 12 cm / 4.7 in tall, smaller than it may look in the photo. Shell pieces sit over a glass dome, pale on top and banded in colour at the rim; lit, each piece glows a little differently. For a shelf, a bar cart or a narrow nightstand, not a room's main light.

Material and limits: what it is, and what it is not

• Shade: shell pieces on a glass dome; glass underneath, so lift with care.
• Base: metal, bronze-gold finish. Not solid brass.
• Base: 26 cm / 10.2 in tall; foot 10 cm / 3.9 in across.
• One screw-in bulb socket. The shade sits close to the bulb, so use a small LED bulb.
• Switches: pull chain at the socket, plus an on/off switch on the cord.
